Potentilla fruticosa 'Gold Drop' - Gold Drop Potentilla

In our local area there are two primary yellow flowering Potentillas available; 'Gold Drop' and 'Goldfinger'. 'Gold Drop' is the smaller of the two, with flowers ranging in size from ½" to just under a full inch, and showing bright, golden-yellow color. Blooms begin to show in summer and last late into the growing season, providing a happy brightness to the yard when many other plants have already passed their bloom. This is a smaller Potentilla, reaching to just over 2' in height and 3' in spread. After it has reached it's mature size, in future years there may be some dieback of stems, leaving the shrub looking a little scraggly. A hard pruning back to within a few inches of the ground in late fall will return an evenly full plant the following spring.
