| The Froebelii Spirea begins the growing season with very deep, dark red, slender foliage pushing out from it's stems, fading to green, with leaf ends often holding onto a bit of red. Blooms visit this deciduous shrub in late spring to early summer, creating a show of pink ('Anthony Waterer' is very similar, but with a deeper bloom color). If your property sees enough traffic that Autumn Joy Sedum can't get established, this is a good substitute. If the plant begins to get a little sparse, a hard pruning back in late fall or early spring will see new shoots of growth take the place of old and give you a full sized, well mounded plant in no time. |
