Spiraea japonica 'Mertyann' - Dakota Goldcharm ® Spirea

Dakota Gold Charm Spirea is more or less a miniature version of Goldflame or Goldmound Spirea, with foliage that starts a deep red, fading to a yellowish green by late spring. Blooms are pink, foliage is serrated. This variety tops out at 12-15" in height and spread and can even be used as a groundcover it's so small. Certainly a plant to locate at the front of a planting bed, otherwise it will be lost among the taller perennials and shrubs. While it prefers full sun and moist, loamy soil, it can survive and even thrive in less than those ideals.
