Hello, and welcome to our site! My name is Jeff Pozniak, and I’m the administrator for the Ground Trades Xchange. We’re all about the landscaping industry! What’s unusual about our site is that all of the content on our site has been posted by people involved in landscaping in one way or another. I own a landscaping company in Wisconsin, and the other people that help me manage our online forum are also involved in the landscape field.
The way our site works is simple. It’s an online discussion forum, and registered members ask and answer various landscaping questions.
For example, a member new to the landscape industry might ask “How do I start a landscaping business?” Most of the members on our site are either owners or officers of their respective landscaping companies, and the person asking the question will find that there are many of us on the site willing to help a budding landscaping outfit. Our help is given by way of answering his question, like a message board. Each discussion or “thread” is stored in a specific category (landscape design, hardscaping, softscaping, etc), and is always there to be retrieved at a later date.
Even if you’re not involved in the landscaping industry, our site might still be a benefit to you. If you’re a weekend landscaper and you register as a member (registration is free – see the bottom of this page), you’ll be able to ask those of us in the landscaping field specific questions you might have. But please keep in mind – the people that participate in our site are landscape professionals, and while they may indulge a question or two, their primary reason for being here is to help them to become a better landscaping contractor. Their time is valuable, and in answering your questions they are giving away landscape knowledge they might ordinarily charge for, if you were to call them for a consultation.
For the Landscape Contractor
If you are a landscape contractor, this site was designed for you. I know, because I’m a landscape contractor myself, first getting involved in the landscaping industry in 1985, when I began working for a little landscape nursery in Rochester, Michigan. After spending a few years scouring the web, it seemed like there really weren’t enough resources for landscaping contractors like me. I had already made a few landscape friends online, so I launched the Ground Trades Xchange in February of 2003 and invited my landscape friends to join me in discussions about our industry. Two years later, we have well over 600 members, and members that run the gamut from landscape contractors to landscape architects and designers, foreman and managers. We all share our hard-won, field tested knowledge with our landscaping brethren, in the hopes it will help to improve every aspect of the industry, from landscape design and installation to marketing, accounts payable and receivable, and any other issue that faces a landscaping firm.
Thanks for visiting. I do hope you'll
look over some of the discussions we've had on our site, and that you'll feel
comfortable enough after looking around that you decide to register
as a member. Registration is free, and we will never share any of your
personal information with anyone. Not even with other members of the site,
if that's what you'd prefer.
