1st option, and is in the contract, is to use a skid steer to move it around depending upon the site.
2nd option, and is in the contract, is to haul it away.
All of these are priced hourly plus a dump fee if we are hauling.
If we get two storms within a weeks time in our area that are 4-6 inches each...we are out for a few days after the second moving piles and hauling snow..
If I recall somewhere last year I heard about a snow melting machine that would 'eat' the snow, melt it, and drain the water into the drain culverts along the street...??

Excavator friend has tandems and a FWA Case backhoe. Off it goes!

I've not only heard of the melters but have seen them. I'll post a pic and link soon.

Here's a melter trailer mounted and melts snow that is loaded into top and releases it as water. All of the airports use them due to lack of space to put the snow and its infamous piles.

Heres another one. This is the one that I said was used at airports. This is a smaller version though.

Oh so that's what you mean. I've seen them around the airports and such. They do a very good job of snow removal. Wouldn't it be great to have a company make one small enough for sidewalks. That would bew great. The only problem is where the heck do you put all that water. Some places (rivers, lakes, streams and the like) may not allow you to dump water in their property. Even to put it down a drain may also be illegal. To keep it around for the spring to be used as plant water or for washing equipment isn't very smart due to the amount of salt and chemicals that are possible. Thats just my 2 cents!

Yeah but it gets the job done without the complaining due to huge piles of snow. Can't use it in ice though.

Definitely could not justify something like that for our operation....plus we very rarely get more than 50" of snow in a year.

Have you heard of or used those pre-storm ice protectors???? I posted a pic of it in the thread "walkways". They look pretty nifty. Not to expensive either.

Looks nice huh. Probably not great on your truck but it sure does a better job and gets that job done faster.
