Snow

Just finalized our last contract for snow on Friday afternoon. A client with 12 locations.

The only factor in the equation that we need is for it to actually snow. All our trucks are ready with the exception of one that gets a plow installed on 11/6. We need two more snow blowers and about a dozen shovels. All the subcontractors are lined up and each piece has been divided into routes whereby a route manager is responsible for the respective properties. Monday I go out with the final route manager to each property to familiarize him with the issues.

Over time we have weeded out a lot of residential driveways so that now we are left with only 73, all routed close together and all paying extremely well.

My role will be strictly one of training, coordination, site inspections, salt & sand spreading, and backup. With luck I won't even have to get out of the truck and brave the elements except to pick up coffee and a doughnut!

Almost afraid to say it, but things look like they are falling so easily into place that after the first of the year and a few storms I may take the family away on a vacation and leave it in the hands of my manager.

Sorry to gloat but for the first time in a long time I am excited for winter.

That's pretty cool. Sounds like you've made some great strides in building your biz. Kudos!

Still there is only one factor in that equation that I can not control...... When and if it snows.
