Beet juice Brine

Have you seen this?
The District of Columbia is adding a processed beet juice to their salt brine for pretreating and deicing. The claim is that it reduces the amount of salt needed in the brine.

So is this being used in your area? Has it been successful?
Is it expensive?

Blood on the highway, is it a visual deterent as well? Hehe. This is the first I have heard of it.

come on it does not look like blood....it is mixed with sand and rock salt......hey use it in my area.......my county saved 300,000 last year.
