blizzard plow owners
im considering mounting an 810 onto my new truck and want info from past/present users. Im interested in the reliability of the unit in general and the wings in particular. Also would like to know how you feal your unit compares to past plows you have owned. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks.

Mac, if you are plowing anything but just driveways, buy this plow. I don't own an 810, but I did get an 8611 for our 550 last year. If it means anything to you, I am putting another 8611 on our other 550 that has a 2 year old Fisher V on it and a LoPro 8611 on my new 350.
Most productive plow I have ever seen on a truck. Cuts approximately 30% time off a v-plows time on normal lots. We had one problem because the wiring harness was mounted to the frame and it has to hang loose otherwise it will work its way loose and lose connection. Burned off the steel edge in about 50-60 hours of plowing, installed the urethane repalcemant edge and all is well with it.
I've seen some wings that were destroyed, but they were able to keep plowing until repairs could be made. That was probably my biggest concern as well, but after seeing what this plow can do, I am more than willing to take that risk.

No other plow can push the amount of snow a Blizzard can and do it in less time

I've had an 810 for 3 seasons now, I wouldn't go back to anything else!! Oh, by the way, I do a driveway route with this truck!!! First time out I cut 25% off my plowing time.
I have had some maintenance issues with it, blown hoses for the wings and last season I managed to kink a wing. But as Mark said, I was able to continue plowing and make repairs after I was finished. There also have been some design improvements that eliminate half of the hoses they originally had.
I've actually been pretty impressed with the abuse these things will take. I've caught catch basins with them pretty hard and the blown hose was the result, nothing bent. This past season I hit a rock hidden in a snow bank that bent the wing. It still worked but wouldn't retract fully so I replaced it. Pretty easy job. I think the failure was due to an accumulation of hits, because I had hit things harder and it had held up in the past.
Just make sure your truck is up to the job in the suspension department. These plows weigh 1000 lbs and can tax a truck not made for that weight.

A bit of a different setup, but I've plowed the past 2 winters with a John Deere tractor (5525 model i think) with an 8611 on it. First season i bent the centre bolt, otherwise i wasn't down a single minute... This past season was a different story. I pretty much bought a new plow with all the repairs. I went through 5 rams. One blew, the rest were hyper extended, meaning after hitting a curb, the ram on the other side of the plow away from the curb blew a seal. Other than the rams, I also killed one wing (read 'curb'), and cracked the frame in a few spots. Broke a few different bolts along the way. Never lost a hose mind you. I think the tractor was just a little too much weight for the plow... or I just drive like a maniac I guess...

Blizzard is now owned by Fisher. Fisher has incorporated the Blizzard technology in their new plows.

I did end up getting an 810 and absolutely love it. Like Mark said, it is incredible how productive it is. From now on, im only going to be mounting blizzard plows on my trucks.

Actually, Fisher, Western and Blizzard plows are all owned by Douglas Dynamics. Fisher and Western both have introduced expending plows very similar to the 810. I have a friend who used one of the Fisher XLS this past season with good results.
Good to hear you're happy with the 810 Mac, many are skeptical that they can see such an improvement in production, you have to run one to believe it.
