Pondless water feature calculations...

I have a project requiring a pondless water feature. The client wants a lot of flow (approx. 13000 gph) the falls will be 4 foot wide and 8 foot tall. Does anyone have a calculation for the reservoir size at the bottom that will support that kind of pump demand? I have limited space and would like to get away with the smallest I can.

do you have room to go at least 2ft wider than the falls on each side? 6ft from front to back and about 4-6ft deep? Use lots of those milk crate things or perforated pipe to keep lots of water in the reservior.

why and how did they come up with 13,000gph?
I think the falls could look just as good or better with less

Do they want a rapid type of water coming over the waterfall? Also make sure they want to spend that amount of money per month to run it which will be about $100+/- per month. I think a 5000 to 7500 gph pump will be enough unless they want white water type of rapids. This is if the total head pressure isn't out of these pumps specs.
