Don't know if you are familiar with organizations like kiva.org that give micro loans to people trying to start businesses.

I saw a news item on NBC? a couple of months ago about how this is replacing traditional bank biz loans for people in the US and abroad.

Here's a link to a women who wants to grow cutting flowers in Samoa.

Seems an easy way to help people and promote the green industry.

I've been thinking of doing this too. It seems that one of the biggest issues for entrepaneurs in developing economies is that there is no financing available for start up capital at anything less than loan shark rates. Didn't the guy who started this win a Nobel prize or something in the last few years?

I really like kiva, too. Keep in mind, it is not even a donation. It is a loan. When you get paid back, you can loan it to someone else.
