You mentioned the word that will get 2 weeks restriction to our 16 year old...I-pod. She is/was so obnoxious with displaying to us that she wants a VIDEO I-pod, gotta get the video in there, that we said if she even mentioned the word she gets 2 weeks in house restriction.

What the hell do these kids think we graft $20.00 bills to apple tree branches or something? That thing is $400.00. For what, some little piece of crap that will get lost or stepped on?????
Npw the big thing is to push her to getting a job. She is 16, has a drivers permit, will soon have a car ( an 04 Cavalier we helped her brother get) and I refusde to pay $2,500 a year for insurance. She can earn that. Her brother, the entitled one bought himself a 924 Porsche. I can't wait until the counterbalanced camshafts on that thing begin to self destruct it and he sees what it is going to cost for an engine. It needed brakes and he spent $1,600 for parts...They just don't listen....

Anyhow, enough rants about American kids. Time to go sell 2 jobs today.

I showed an I-pod to the guys and they all shook their heads asking what purpose the thing would ever serve. I feel the same.

johnkeegan is on a distinguished road
Can you imagine what a "landscaper" will be paid in 10 or 15 years when those generations become the dominent homeowner class? They all want nice things but would never lower themselves to being "do-it-yourselfers." So there will be much more work and an even smaller labor pool. Our labor rate for even simple gardening will have to be $100/hour. And we'll be paying $30/ hour + benefits for entry level laborers...
...So if it helps. Just know the payback is coming for the X and Y'ers...Ch-ching.

John:

In theroy, you are absolutely right. At the moment however, I'm having difficulty even seeing those life forms get past the In and Out Burger/Pizza delivery phase of thier lives.
