Dhobi Plant???

Had a client ask me about a Dhobi plant. Through some internet research I now know it's botanically known as a semecarpus anacardium, and a relative of the cashew. What I could NOT find, however, were any links to commercial sources. Now, she saw it at the garden behind the Castle at the Smithsonian, so it wouldn't shock me if it's hard to come by, but I was surprised that there appeared to be no links at all to stateside vendors.

Anyone know it? Bought it? Planted it?

Dave

The hort people at the Smithsonian are nice folks. I'm sure one of them can give you the details that you need. I was there recently but don't recall the plant. Is it a tree or a shrub?

I suppose that'd work too. I called over to Merrifield, and basically got a big "do what?" from them. Thanks Lanelle!

I once grew a doobie plant about 25 years ago. I never found one in a nursery. Although I once found a couple in a Burger King parking lot planter.

... Oh, that's different. .... Never mind.
