maple seedlings

I installed a shade garden last year around a house with pre-existing maples. This spring there are literaly thousands of maple seedling coming up throught the flowerbeds. The beds were mulched with pine bark mulch the customer had already bought and had on hand. I'm wondering if the maple isn't a norway maple judging from just how many seedlings emerged this spring. If not norway, then sugar maple. Anyone have any advice for controling the seedling problem, short of cutting the tree down, which would be my first recommendation to them.

4seasons is on a distinguished road
Spray them with roundup, then the next time there are a bunch of seeds-- put down a pre-emergent( snapshot)
