trans film to keep flowers longer?

Is it possible or has anyone tried using trans-film or any other similar spray to keep blooms looking good for longer, I was thinking of trying it on some mums. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this of any other tricks to keep the color, be it perennial or annual around a little longer.
