Plant of the Week 59 1/2 was supposed to be Plant of the Week 59, but trees beat me to it.
This Spring flowering woodland bulb is a member of a beloved genus of native wildflowers.
PM me with your guess. Please don't post your guess in the thread. Correct answer and winners posted in about a week.
Good Luck!

The Wisconsin State D.N.R. lists POTW59 1/2 as a species of "special concern", the first step to being listed as "threatened", and then "endangered", yet in the low mesic woods around Lake Geneva and Lake Como, POTW 59 1/2 is a weed, forming large colonies in wild waste places.

One of POTW 59 1/2's common names could be the title of the next hit slasher flick .

POTW59 1/2 is an easy companion to other woodland perennials, seen here comporting with some light-deprived Tulips, Yellow-Fumitory and emerging Hostas in my old home gardens.

Only one completely right answer, and one half right answer so far. I'll run this one a few more days, cause at least half of it is pretty easy...

Another look. The subtle beauty of POTW 59 1/2 isn't easy to capture.

Until you get up close, when POTW 59 1/2 is more sinister than subtle, and the origins of POTW 59 1/2's common name becomes a little more explicable.

Plant of the Week 59 1/2 is Trillium recurvatum, commonly known as Prairie Trillium, or Bloody Butcher.
Congratualtions to dan deutekom (as always), agla, groundwork, and Lanelle who got both the genus and species right.
Half credit to phototropic1, Diamondscapes, and trees who knew POTW 59 1/2 was a Trillium.
Several people guessed Trillium cuneatum, or Wild Sweet Betsy. Thats a great name for a movie, but definitely not a slasher flick.
And for the GTXers wondering about the "59 1/2", the answer is found in Plant of the Week 57
