Plant of the Week 57
If Plant of the Week 56 offended your discriminating tastes , then the subtlety and obscurity of Plant of the Week 57 will appeal to the snob in you.
This North American native woodland bulb completes its life cycle in early Spring before the Oaks leaf out. I've seen its foliage growing in many places, but rarely seen it flower, so spotting a few blooming on the north shore of Lake Geneva Friday afternoon was a real treat.
PM me with your guess; please don't post your answer in the thread. Answer and winners posted next Sunday.
Good Luck and Happy Easter!

An early hint, Garlic Mustard is not the answer, but it may be the problem!

Hey,
PM Sent, albeit a bit late.
I love this kind of stuff here in the southern appalachian mountains.
By the way, for sources of native woodland plants go to www.gardensoftheblueridge.com
They are a legitimate business (no wild harvesting) and been doing it a long time. You just might find that special plant!

A typical patch of POTW57 foliage with no blooms in sight, inhabiting the ground beneath a rank hedgerow stand of buckthorn and honeysuckle at our new places.

POTW57 keeps company with all types, including POTW59, Virginia waterleaf (which will never be a POTW), buckthorn, grapevine, and garbage, in a ditch down by the road.
