lawn overseeding timeframe question

At the very end of March, I slit overseeded a blue grass lawn that was in terrible shape. I put down about 1# per k, as recomened by my supplier. The same day, starter fert was put down...

Anyways, the client is getting antsy and questioning how soon we will see anything... I dontknow as this was my first overseeding job. I just keep telling them we need time. What would you all say? Are they just appling their "microwave" mentality to their lawn?

Lanelle is on a distinguished road
Has the client been watering the area every day? No water = No grass.

Temperature will also effect the rate of growth. If your temperatures were cool, it will take longer for the growth to be noticeable. Sounds like you need to do a hands and knees examination and see if you've got germination of your seed.

Both responses above directly affect what can be seen.......Most important is water.

I began seeding the 3rd week in March and 2 days later began watering 2 - 5 minutes a day every day, with an irrigation system. My lawn is looking great. While neighbors are way behind my results. And it's been a cool spring here this year

What seed did you use? Blue may take up to 45 days to germinate; if temps are cool triple rye . in Ohio I don't know the temps. have you had a warm spring are the soil temperature's getting warm?

Seed I used in my back is what is called an AThletic Mix

2 types of Blue
2 types of Fescue
small % of Rye

Don't remember the exact % make up or variety of seeds....I have alot of shade in my back, not dense shade and I know the Fescue will over take any Rye that germinated first...

Thanks for the responses. I have been out a couple times just as I was passing on my hands and knees looking for germination but I have yet to see any. I know for a fact they have not been watering but I will get on that as they just had an irrigation system put in.

We began with an average spring... it wasnt unusually warm, maybe a tad on the cool side. I know the soil is still somewhat cold. I tried to explain that it will take time, especially with the soil still warming but the man didnt want to hear much of that as he cut me off mid sentence. I dont remember exactly what was put down but it was purely a bluegrass seed... no rye (which i now somewhat regret).

If they water on a daily basis, what sort of timefarme should we be looking at?

With good water and warm temps, bluegrass can take 2 to 3 weeks to be noticeable, it might be a little longer to notice in an established lawn.
