Ok -- this is for my personal residence.

I am looking for two large shrub/small tree choices for the front of my house -- I had to pull out two "OLD" globe arborvitea because of winter damage (plus I didn't liek them )

anyway...... I'm looking for some intresting plants here. Most likelya broadleaf evergreen but could be anyhting.

House faces North. Pictures will give you the rest of the story.

I am wanting to plant a tree at the corner of the house.

jwholden is on a distinguished road
I choose option C, take the money and get that tree out of the middle of the lawn.

A small tree on the right corner would have to stay pretty thin to avoid problems with the neighbors drive. Perhaps a 'Robin Hill' Amelanchier or Korean Stewartia.

The left corner could have something with a little more spread such as a paperbark maple, any type of dogwood, Heritage river birch, etc.

I don't often plant evergreens on the corner of houses, but if I was going to I would think about a Holly of some sort.

Why not Euonymus Compacta aka " burning bush"?

It works well with the house color scheme. It's not evergreen
as you know but takes autumn to another level. Facing north is
tough on evergreens on the east coast. As for the tree, looks
like you need an ornamental. I suggest hibiscus standard.
I absolutely love them because of thier look and stability.

I got the tree you are looking for........

Spruce............Festigia. OK not sure of the spelling on the "Festigia".

Awesome Spruce tree...............Will gain Height like all the rest....But it won't gain width......OK it will, like any other plant but it's real slender. I just put 2 in front of my house and a much larger one in front of a customer.

Just cause your front faces North, won't mean that corner placement they would do poorly. And if you plant them just right, a little away from the front of the house and a little off the corner to the side............Wa-La..
