The General Sherman Tree

While on my recent trip I got to see the General Sherman Tree. This tree is the largest (known) living thing on earth. The tree is 2300-2700 years old, 275 feet tall, and 36.5 feet in diameter at the base. The mass of the tree is estimated at 1385 tons. Here's a few shots.

Agla,

I posted the Sherman Tree because it's the biggest. The General Grant is the third largest living thing on earth. They are about 1/2 hour apart so I got to see them both.

You really don't get a sense of the tree's size until you see the closeup at the bae, with you standing there. That thing is huuuuuuge!
