This is a small portion of the gardens that surround the official residence of the Commandant of the US Marine Corps. This mansion is on the oldest continuously-occupied military post in the nation, near the US Capitol. I designed this formal garden to incorporate the new fountain into the existing gardens. This photo was taken last summer. The foundation of the garden is English boxwood with Harbor Dwarf Nandina filling the corners. The semi-circles are filled with seasonal color. The fall/spring plantings are scarlet and yellow pansies (Marine Corps colors) with white daffodils.

I'd love to see more!

It'd also be interesting to hear about how working with this type of client might differ from a residential client. Though that discussion would probably be better in the softscape forum.
