In May of this year the national one-call utility locate service will be rolled out. The number you'll call, no matter what state (in the US) you live in, will be 811.

Calls will automatically be routed to the appropriate state services to have your utilities marked - but the process of knowing which number to call has been made extremely simple.

Just dial 811.

Did you know that?

I've heard the rollout is supposed to happen in April or May (the linked document says May), but the gist is, no matter where you are in the US, you just dial 811 to order a locate.

i Use an online version that Kansas started doing recently. SUPER CONVENIENT. I can do all my locates up to three weeks ina dvance and schedule them.

Plus I have a electronic record of everything that way. I like it so much more than calling and answering the ladies 1000 questions everytime.

What kind of work will you be doing? Landscaping, tree planting, tilling.

Will you be using explosives? What kind of trees do you think I ma planting?!?!?!
