I voted for newspaper, but we also use word of mouth sometimes.

We have no less than 75 guys standing at Home depot, or Spinal Fart every day. 50% of them have green cardsm driveres licenses, and documentation. All of our guys come from Guatamala, and have superior work ethics over the local yokals. they are the reason we have been as successful as we have been....

I got sick of the rif raf calling from my newspaper ads so I made some handbills and posted them in the neighborhoods of the people I was looking for including a starting wage. I was amazed at the number of phone calls I got!

That's one of the best ways because people have to read it. In the paper they can just read right past it.

I try to do my hiring by reference. I often have people I know tell me of someone looking for work, I prefer to get that type over a cold interview.

I've done the newspaper route and always end up with people unqualified applying. Either that or they feel they should get premium wages from the first day.

I't's my policy to start someone at a respectable wage and give them a 2 week evaluation period, after which we discuss where they are vs. where they need to be and how they will be compensated accordingly.

I think Site still does this - does anyone give candidates a physical test?

I make them push a wheelbarrow filled with 400# of retaining wall block (5 std unit Versa-Lok)
