Mileage Rates

I live in the Omaha Metro (yep, it is considered a Metro area) area where most work, nurseries, material suppliers, waste site, etc., etc. are within 30 miles of one another. I charge flat delivery fees and dumping fees within the Metro area.

I am trying to figure out a mileage rate to charge a reference for driving to the next biggest city, Lincoln (home of the Huskers). A minimum drive to Lincoln will be 50 miles.

I have heard that the IRS now allows for a $.50/mile deduction, so I am kind of using that as a starting number, though I have not actually verified this in any way, shape, or form. The other number I have in my mind is $.95/mile. I got that from a supplier price sheet on deliveries.

Does anyone have a specific number? Let me guess, the number is somewhere in between the two that I listed?! Okay, does anyone have some starting point for me, at least?

Thank you.

Thank you for the reply dsamuelson, much appreciated. At least I can compare my numbers to what you have. I failed to mention that I would be pulling a trailer and skid loader as well, so I am starting to lean towards a higher number.

Yours
