We were contacted by an outfit that provides work training and job placement for those that are, say we say, situationally distressed. Those that can't find/hold down jobs for whatever reason. Generally their spotty work history, demographics, personal characteristics, or criminal record prevent them from being hired.
We're considering hiring one guy that went through their training program. He's been delivering door hangers for us. He's responsible, timely, engaged, etc. We're pleasantly surprised.
I was told that we can get a tax credit if he does work for us, up to $2400.00. I found information at:

Has anyone else taken advantage of this tax credit? How does it work? Do you claim the credit against income for the year? As long as the individual meets the criteria and they work the amount of time they're supposed to, I guess you get the credit. Any other catches that you know about?
