Who throws their guys a party?

Tomorrow is our big golf outing. I drag them to a golf course at around 6am, and fill most of their day with booze, food prizes and booze.

I'll spend around 2-300 just on prizes, a couple hundred for golf with carts, a couple hundred for cab rides to and from, plus $$ for all the booze and food. Every year it seems to get a little bigger, but I enjoy trying to do something nice for the guys.

Anyone else do any kind of outing?

Jeff,
I didn't now you had that many employees? I take my employees on vacation, out to dinner, shopping, you get the idea! But you know my situation LOL.

Where I am (for one more week), the boss hires 2 very, very, nice fishing charter boats for a full day of food, snacks, beer, and fishing in Cape Cod Bay. Yes, they are on the clock for 8 hours - all expense paid. (no cigars supplied last year)

**Stonehenge, ...what about cigars?**

On the clock?

Well, that beats me. I don't think I'd do that. Yes, there are usually cigars involved. In fact, I have to plan more carefully, because once everyone has had a few drinks in them, nobody keeps close watch on their stogies, including me, so it's not uncommon to lose many cigars on the course. For that I buy lots of Swisher Sweets, but also bring along some good ones. The Swishers are for while we golf, the nice ones are prizes for various things.

SCL, I don't really have that many guys (4) - it just adds up really quick. The cab ride in for one guy was $80. Still cheaper than not having him work the rest of the season.

And nobody got as drunk as we have in years past, which is probably a good thing. I can't bounce back like I used to.

Though the charter boats sounds very nice, I don't see charter boats in our outing future - unless I'm not going...

Prizes this year included:

Gift Certificate to Home Depot
Gift Certificate to Gander Mountain (a hunting, fishing and camping store)
A few cigars
Squirt Gun
Nerf Football
Golf Balls
I little cowgirl car antenna ornament (for shortest drive)
Jalapeno fuzzy dice (for longest drive)
Rapala fishing lures
Mag Light
Pocket Knives
Some other stuff, too...

Grand prize was a $100 gift cert to one of the nicest restaurants in town.

But I may try to make it more of a family or couples outing next year. I always look forward to the event, but I hate the recovery time needed afterward, the way I run it now.

Tim is an unknown quantity at this point
We have a meeting every last Friday of the month. If the numbers made us smile as far as productivity, we have lunch brought to the job sites, and give everyone an atta boy! If we don't smile, they brown bag it ! At the end of the year, we have a secret exchange between the employees during a very nice, sit down supper at a local voted on restaurant that the majority picked for all the employees, and their spouses.
