Pushin them out the door...

How long does it take all of you (on average) to get your crews out the door in the morning?

It seems to be about 1/2 an hour every day on average for us. That usually involves loading up, making sure stuff is in the right spots in the shop and all that.

However, as Fall approaches, I notice it turns into 45 minutes sometimes. Kinda kills the profit margin.

Just curious what you all shoot for.

I am pretty sure I am going to need to set a limit seeing how we are 2x as big now as last year.

Make sure your systems are in place to expedite the process as much as possible.
ou don't say how many crews you have, but having one designated lot boy to come in early and load trucks, fuel trucks with on site fueling, and load any equipment and supplies.

Make this an overhead position and keep your crews working. In this scenario, you crews should be on the road in less than 10 minutes each.

Same at end of the day. Have another lot boy unload, wash equipment, stage for repairs and parking trucks, dumping debris.

Well..........We leave the yard 7:30 mon - fri. 8:00 on sat.

Sometimes they have to wait 5 or so minutes for a man. Most times I send them out on time and will drop off the late person.

best time saver is having an enclosed trailer or open trailer that is parked in a garage.

When I take a crew for extra work.........we have to leave the yard go to my house and load tools, this is also when doing shrub trimming......we can be on our way 7:50 or so..........if doing planting add in the nursery time.

All in all.........I have little wasted time in the morning.........but. I can reduce waisted time by bringing what I need in the pickup when I leave the house in the morning.
