CLIP software

The owner here is always complaining about scheduling, etc. I'm looking to help him out. Does anyone out there use CLIP software? Able to use it to it's full potential? Is it effective?

I've never actually talked to anyone who's used it. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you

We used Clip for years.
We actually helped them sell there products and helped produce the projects module.
The company changed 100%,,, from what they use to be.
I wont go on a rant here,,,, But I will tell you that using there product screwed my numbers up,,,, try to get support for there product started costing more and more (when you could get support),,,,, programming had so many problems that they had to send out patch after patch and then we had to start paying for support just to get the patch for the fix that they caused,,,, OMG what a nightmare!!! I have heard folks complaine that they are sick and tired of having to actually change the way they operate to accomodate the software,,,HUH???

I guess some folks still like it,,,, (I still like a rotary phone to)

but for my money ,,,,, QExpress,,,,, It is a much better product and much easier to learn and use. The product has a sound company behind it for support. I am not getting paid anything for saying this,,, just listen to others using QX and use to have Clip. Get a demo of QX,,,, if ya need ph. numbers let me know.

We use QXpress in our company. It is an amazing piece of software.

We were also "disappointed" with CLIP and were thrilled when QXpress was recommended to us. In fact, because of the size of our operation we recently upgraded to their Enterprise version. It works seamlessly with QuickBooks and we are very pleased with their support team.

If you'd like me to discuss this further, I'd be more than happy to.

I have no current knowledge about it though.

Thank you all for your replies. I have been checking out the QXpress tutorial and trial version. Looks like something I could handle to help out the boss.

I have to agree with the RC and Ron. I used CLIP for a while and recently changed to Qxpress, and the transition was great. It really took me a year to get comfortable with CLIP when I started using it, however with QX, we learning at a much faster pace. Just be glad your not like me and had spent about $4,000 for the program, traning, and tutorial cd's and then get rid of it a year later. I was one of those guys that used it at a previous company about 6 years ago, and thought it was the only thing to use. So I bought it when I went out on my own without investigating other options. I have woke up many times and wish I could kick myself in the a$$.

The demo they sent me a few years ago actually looked like pre Windows95 software...horrible.

I've been hearing good things about QXpress, too.

It really all depends on if you want your numbers to be the same when you run different reports or match what you have in QB. If it doesn't matter to you, go for it.

If you enjoy being a Beta (maybe even Alpha) tester without being told but still having to pay for that version, then go for it.

If you enjoy knowing more about the program than the 'Technical Support' person you are talking to when one of the many, many bugs shows up, go for it.

If you have money to burn and want to purchase module after module, then you can do that, too.

Otherwise, I would strongly recommend QX.

My question would be how much money do you want to spend/waste to save money, and how much time do you want to spend/waste to save time?

You can dial in a system of indexed card route books and white board for about $100.00, they won't hold you hostage when you computer fails and as long as you know how to read and write, you won't need tech support. Unless of course you want to get a special pen that requires instructions.

We recently purchased Clip (the $800.00 version). I have to say I am very displeased thus far. It has some very neat features, and is a very powerful program.

However, it has an EXTREMELY gawdy interface, and as said it looks like windows 3.11. I am pretty good with software, and its giving me a hell of a time to do anything other then just the extreme basics. I hate that I spent 800.00 on it. We had lawn monkey back in the day, and I never remember it being anywhere near as difficult as this stuff is.

I see a change in our future, its just too difficult to learn it fully. They charge for tech support, and they want $200.00 for a tutorial cd that should have been included in the price of the software.

Stay away!
