Do You Have Problems With Theft?

We have had equipment and tools stolen from us every year.

Ist year, we had an expensive concrete saw ripped off right out of the toolbox of the truck.

2nd year... small things decided to walk off...hand tools and measuring wheels.

lately.. plants stolen out of our nursery, an air compressor taken from a locked shed.

We pretty much know who took some of the items but of course can't prove it.

Is theft something that one should figure into their costs as well?

Theft is always going to be a problem. How about some cameras at your shop? I know it is not the cheapest thing to do, however if you are having that much of a problem every year it may make sense. Second, If you think you know who took it, why can't you approach him about it? Even if you do not have proof, you obviously do not trust this person anyway so what will it hurt by confronting him about it. Even if he denies it, it will let him know that you are watching. We have had some minor problems in the past, but nothing too bad. Everything on the job site is under lock and key.
