Haven't read any lately. My next will be Good to Great by Jim Collins which I've read or heard about twice in the last month.

Its a good cd set, but you need to go through it a few times to let it all set in. It can be a bit dry at times, but I think you will find you can always pull something from it eac time you listen!

Rob, y ou are right. I listened to Good To Great three times and parts of it still don't make sense. But I get something out of it each time I listen to it.
The E-Myth is another great book. People don't fail, systems do! This is becoming more evident as my business grows. It's all about having systems in place.
I would also suggest you all read "A Stake in the Outcome" and "The Great Game of Business" by Jack Stack. Good reading!

This is my winter read,
How to Price Landscape & Irrigation Projects, James R. Huston
He presents the material in a very uncomplicated manner, or as uncomplicated as you can get with this type of material. The chapters break the material down into small manageable bits and he provides tons or real world industry averages and comparisons.
Finally, every chapter has a small 'story' of how the topic he is discussing relates to a real world situation.
GET THIS BOOK!

I gave up reading when I graduated 12/16/05. I averaged about 750 pages per semester for the last 3.5 years and am tired of it.
But honestly, Im going back through my CLP materials and using them this time. Time to get serious... I plan to break into the top 100 sometime in my life. Hopefully sooner than later.

There are a lot of great books obviously out there from the business side to the personal side and they all help. I have six shelves of business/performance psychology books in my office and gym.
Here is the short list:
Customers for Life, The Seven Habits of Highly effective People, Built to Last, anything by Deepak Chopra, Dwight Hughes...dated but shows what you can do with just a few people and great equipment, Personal Power Anthony Robbins (walked on fire with him) How to beceome a Rainmaker, the millionaire next door, The Four Agreements and The Power of Focus....part of one shelf
The important thing is to read and reread and reread and take notes and then apply consistently. I have a lot of these on CD also so I can listen while working out and in my truck.....
Several years ago, I knew I had all the knowledge in these books and tapes and could quit looking for the next big idea.....it was there on my shelf....I just needed to do it daily.....

How can you lift weights listening to Tony Robbins? "Now Glenn, imagine my giant head is a medecine ball...now LIFT! YOU CAN DO IT!"
I'm either listening to hard rock, or a game on the radio while lifting...
The book I just picked up is "Getting Things Done". It's upstairs and I'm too lazy to go get it, but I think the author is David Allen. He's managed to write 260 pages about how to organize one's work/home life all in a very detailed filing system. His writing is somewhat repetitive (260 pages!), but I'm a procrastinator by nature and organization/time management is probably my weakest skill, so I'm hoping this book will help.

then a plan such as the rapid planning method may work for you....everyone gets tied up in to do lists instead of the big picture....
and if you were listening to say AR then you wouldn't be too lazy to go and get the book
On the elliptical or tread I listen to everthing from big band to country to new age to selective rock and even a little blues, but hard to keep the 4-5 mph pace up for an hour if you hit a slow blues set.......
the speed bag and heavy bag are for those days where you can't seem to get your point across to anyone
and the weight system is when you are to lazy to use the much more benefical free weights which are always working your core group.....
3x a week free weight workouts are a combination of free weights and aerobics for about an hour straight also.... and then a little egg white omelet, multi grain bagel, bannana and big glass of orange juice.....i'm ready for the day.....

I have found in my 13 years of studying performance psychology in an attempt to guide me is that you will find authors you connect with and those you don't. Any of these authors can help you in your business/family an/or health.
It could be the old standard like the e-myth or the e-myth revisited.......it could be anything Stephen Covey has written....or the really old timer but still timely Napoleon Hill
They all tell the same story....different approaches...like The greatest salesman in the world by Og Mandino....an easy read....but possibly life changing
Some teach you techniques to manage your own state and understand what makes others tick and some teach you to lead others while others will teach you how to be healthy or manage money........as the saying goes
When the student is ready the teacher will come or
Those convinced despite their will are of the same opinon still..

Glad to hear it's not all Olivia Newton John exercises in those workouts. Keep workin' on those core muscles!
Yep, there are a million different writing styles and every author is different. Long ago, I learned to "speed read" by skimming over surpluferous text and get to the relevent stuff. I'm sure I'll get some useful info from the book I'm currently reading...just haven't got far enough into it to give a solid opinion one way or the other.

Couple of books I read last winter;
"The Only Negotiating Book You'll Ever Need" Peter B. Stark
"Less Is More" Jason Jennings
Both were worth the price and I'm due to re-read them again prior to this season.

cutntrim,
"The book I just picked up is "Getting Things Done". It's upstairs and I'm too lazy to go get it". That has to be the funniest thing that has ever appeared on GTX. I've been listening to a lot of these tapes self improvement tapes for 15 years after being introduced to "the strangest secret" by Earl Nightengale. On person who I've never been able to listen to is the extremely popular Steven Covey. It's just something about his voice.
