I phoned about the JobClock today. After finding out that I do 80% maintenance and that even with only two trucks and 4-5 guys we may visit 75 properties per week, he told me that the JobClock would not be a fit for me. It's set up to remain stationary at an individual site, and although some may take it with them to a couple of different sites on a given day, it just wouldn't work for 12-15 sites/day all week long. In addition, he told me that it will not synchronize with the Canadian version of QB.

So much for that idea...

We're only using it at the yard for the guys to punch in and out each day. We also use QB but I don't enter individual days there. I keep all that in an excel spreadsheet where we would manually enter hours. Transferring from the palm should eliminate a lot of typing for us. As for keeping track of time at each maintenance account, we'll be trying out the data collector from Lawn Monkey this year. I had to buy a new palm pilot for the jobclock and it came with an application that let's you open and edit excel files so I'll be putting my estimating templates on there for in-the-field estimates.

I used to have two Palms on the go a few years ago, but they stopped synching properly with the desktop (double entries being posted for some reason), so I stopped using them entirely. I upgraded to QB Contractor, so I'm going to use the Time Tracking feature as detailed as I can this season. Still have to log in paper sheets from the trucks though...

I am going to buy QB Pro and am wondering if anybody pays monthly fees for any added services or once you buy it thats it. I am looking to do invoice/estimates, payroll, track job hours, and record taxes on it. Do any of these features require more money than you pay for up front?

$200.00 for the updates? That is more than QB PRO costs new? What is the advantage, is there no way to transfer old accounts?

I spoke with them this week about using just one clock at the yard for 2 crews. Total was about $560.00 for 5 employees using my existing palm pilot.
Was your jobckock for free even though you only got one?
