Education assistance

How do others handle employees that are interested in going to college for hort? Where I work as long as it is related to the field we are in the county will cover 100%. This is if you stay on for 2 years after the class is done. Thsi also goes for advance certifications above and beyond what we currently need for out job.

I will pay for winter classes for the employees who I believe have potential. The two I asked never took me up on it.

We pay for the CLT testing and study sessions, and are sending two guys through adult litteracy programs. Hispanic culture is interesting to say the least. As a whole, they don't value education, and many of the kids quit school in the 4th grade. thus, they can barely read. Now give them a blueprint and show them a scale, and they can execute pretty well. So, for now, we are using tape recorders rather than written notes.

I like the tape recorder idea. I am always rambling a dozen different directions to the crew and this would be a great way to stay on the same page. No misunderstandings. I'm always learning here.
