Paid holiday falls on a weekend

For those who pay holiday pay, what do you do when a holiday falls on a weekend? Do you just give them extra $, let them use the paid time some other time, or do you thank the calendar gods and stay quiet?

You could put out a company memo that will move it to another day, such as the day after Thanksgiving or just before or after Christmas or July 4th to round out a longer weekend. It is early in the season to be handing money out, especially to new help.

....which holiday are we talking about?

Bill Schwab is an unknown quantity at this point
They can take off the friday before, or the monday after and get paid for it, or, as they did when I worked driving a garbage truck, if it fell on a weekend, you got a check for that day as though it was a regular paid day, and you were not allowed to take time off....Trash routes had to run no matter what.

The Monday after a late night of fireworks and parties would be much appreciated.

I'm with Agla. Give 'em the Monday off and pay them for it.

After the last couple of days...which included firing 1 guy this evening, i'm still with "thank the calendar God's and wait for someone to say something."

...but this is coming from a business with 70% maintenance; no matter what the work still has to be completed that week.
