Drug Free Work Place

My company is in the process of instituting drug/alcohol testing. Until now we have not done any. Does anyone have any thoughts to share regarding their experiences?

A little background: Because of 1 or 2 expensive workers comp claims our re-enrollment in our group rating program was denied. This was saving us around 50% of our premiums. By becoming a drug free work place and instituting portions of a 10 step business plan we will be able to save close to what the group rating program did.

As our business has grown we knew it was something that we would have to do. This made it more of an priority.

Any feedback would be appreciated,

MWM

MWM, I can't say I've been in the same spot, but I know we had a conversation along the same lines not too long ago. Here's the thread: War and Peace

It sounds like those that do have a drug-free workplace are happy that they do. I've been thinking about this as well, just had no time to implement.

If you have commericial trucks that require commercial drivers licenses, you need to have a dru;g testing program. In fact, it might even be required for over 10000 GVW. Haven't checked that out, because we have the testing anyway.
