Oh boy, where to start!--She HATES it--

This project (for a supreme court judge) was designed, laid out, planted and at the final walk through---she states that the plants are not big enough(even though I bought out the only supplier of the exact plant) and the pricing given was for plants that were more mature. Now instead of a 3' Rhodo she wants me to replace it with a 5' rhodo--at my cost, 18" Ilex Glabra to 36" at my cost--ETC. at my cost-- 14 1g daylillies aren't "lush" enough for her, The 5'-6' blue princess are not big enough--and no labor!-- GAAAK OH by the way there is no signed contract--I received a 1/2 down payment and am now in the red on this job. I am working now on a reconciliatory letter, and need a bit of-- you got what you paid for help-- Thank You, Jeffrey

22 years in business and no contract, nothing in writting!

There is nothing you can do but replace the material at your cost!

Sounds like you didn't have good communication with your client.

Always specify what size plant and have a contract written. As a judge she should have known that and as a contractor you should have seen to it. Now you're in a pickle.

Why are you in the red on this job?

Instead of a 'you got what you paid for' letter maybe an ‘I’m sorry for the confusion' letter is more appropriate.

Your working for a judge......No contract!!!

She got where she is by being a lawyer!

I bet she is just trying to make you sweat to see what she can get!

If you agreed to install things of a certain size and then didn't, and you don't have a contract that includes a clause to cover your butt for that circumstance, then I think you're in it until it's right by her.

Lawyers, Doctors and Dentists are the biggest PITA's out there. Had one dentist tell me that he had a pretty good eye and could be a landscape architect. I said a good pair of pliers and I could fill in for him while he did my job. He didn't see the humor.

I considered taking up brain surgery on the weekends, but it cut into my hunting and fishing time a bit too much.

Money seems damn good though....

Wouldn't this indicate there was at least a materials list with sizes listed for specs somewhere along the line?

Sorta strange, he's got quite the website for a troll, but who knows.

Could be he's realized that he screwed this one up pretty bad and isn't going to get any help with his go jump in the lake letter to his customer.
