Spruce spider mite problem

What is your control method(s).
I am NYS licenced but have very little knowlage about insect control on ornamentals. Please Help.
Albertas and Fat alberts have taken the worst beating.
Insecticidal soap?,Dorment oils? Malathion?
Do you use something different? Systemic?
I do not have a high pressure sprayer, only a backpac.
Are your customers on a program, I know mites have numerous life cycles per year.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

I don't do much spraying, we usually sub out the plant health care side of the business but Talstar and Merit seem to work really well around here.

For spider mites SEVIN works well with about 3-4 apps a year. PlusI thought Malathion was taken off the shelf? Just invest in a cheap handsprayer 1-2 gallonkind and designate it to insect control. You dont want to mix sprays.

VoodooChile will become famous soon enough
Siting is always an issue with Spruce Spider Mites and Colorado Blues.

If these trees are in a shady and/or protected location, they are experiencing stress-- not enough light and high humidity-- that makes them more susceptible to the mites.

Driving rains or a forceful stream of water from a hose are very effective controls for the mites. Non-selective insecticides kill beneficial pests as well as your target, and could lead to even more severe outbreaks as the natural balance is upset.

If your Blue Spruce aren't in full-sun, well-drained soils, and exposed locations, they are gonna languish and die, long-term. You might make some $ stringing them along, but its a losing proposition.

Malathion? Could be off the market in NY. I was looking at an old fact sheet from Cornell from a diff state.
Hand sprayer? yes I agree, Dont want to risk 2-4-D or roundup on plants. Most mite control insecticides kill from contact, so complete coverage is a must. Do you think a hand sprayer will be effective especially w/ the albertas which have very dence foliage?
Siting? Is that what the term is that will take the blue out of the Co. Blues? Dont want that!
Water stream- Yes, can be effective but... Can't get the customer to water for 2 seasons. Now we have a severe problem.
I surly dont want to kill the benificials, they are my only hope of long term control. IPM.
I have read that Floramite works well, but can only be used for one app / Yr. Anyone have experience with this?
Is it too late in the season to start any control measures? We have already had several killing frosts. I think it makes sence to disrupt the overwintering eggs so as to get a jump and knock down their numbers before spring.Yes? No?
The blues and albertas mat not recover anyhow so voodoo may be right, A losing proposition.
Looking for a viable program so this problem doesn't happen again.
Thanks
