Too funny not to share

Got a call today from someone who wanted their lawn mowed.

Returned the call. The conversation went something like this
Homeowner (HO) "I'd like to get my lawn cut"
Landscaper (L) "Ok, where is your property located"
HO: "East Haddam" (very large town geographically)
L : "Ok, and what's the address of your property?"
HO: "Newbury Rd"
L: "OK, funny, I got a call just the other day about another property on that road and I was unable to locate it...can you tell me which road it's off of?"
HO: "This is hard..."
L: "Can you tell me a road that's near your road?"
HO: "You know where X landmark is?"
L: "Yes"
HO "It's near there"
L: "Ok, where do I go after I get to that landmark?"
HO: "Do you know where the hardware store is?"
L: "You mean Tim's Hardware?"
HO: This is really hard.

Needless to say it went downhill from there. I've met a lot of people in my life, but I've never met anyone who didn't know where their own property was!
It was probably funnier on the phone than it is online, but I thought I'd share anyway.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

I have to say that I can sort of sympathize with the caller. I live in a town with a lot of one way streets and other things that make it much harder to explain how to get somewhere than it actually is to get there. People ask me all summer long how to get places that are a 1/4 mile from where I'm standing but it takes 5 minutes to explain how to get there. Sometimes it's so complicated that I just tell them to go left right up the hill bear left at the bend in the road and left at the statue of the wave with the feet sticking out of it and then ask someone else...

On the other hand the caller could have figured out the whole thing BEFORE calling.

Just wondering if you are the first service company that the HO has called to come to that house? I can't imagine a plumber or repair guy or emergency rescue getting there either, from what you described.

What a weird guy?! I can't believe that someone can't describe the way to his own property!
