how do you mow this?
What is consensus of best way (most efficient) to mow & maintain a 45 degree slope as in pic? Has anyone used plant growth regulators on this kind of situation & if so, what kind of result?

Well if you have 30k laying around you could always invest
in that remote control mower that's out now. It'll mow alot steeper than that.
I've taken walker and hustlers on slopes about like that also.

Is it legitimately a 1:1 slope? It doesnt look like it in the pic but then again, it is just a picture. From what I see, I certainly would not be afraid to put a hydro walkbehind mower on that slope. I would think more than twice about using a ztr but I may just not be manly enough.

Yeah. Hydro walk-behind, cut diagonally, or start at the bottom and work up. I'd be
scared to death to use a Walker: you can only go straight up and down and the fence
doesn't allow you room to maneuver.
Or leave a guy there with a 21.

the walkers with the little dumptruck bed and aggressive tires could start at bottom and mow up. same w/ hustler but that one I'm not so good on. I probably couldn't or wouldn't do it now w/ either seeing as how I don't mow anymore
But when I did..........

I used a front mount in the past for slopes like this. Preferably 4 wheel drive, although I've done it with 2 wheel drive. Go slow and mow in mid afternoon when the grass is at it's driest.

would a stand up unit work, letting you move your body mass at an angle to work along the slope.

Maybe talk them into mulching it? Maybe change it to a low growing ground cover? Looks like a walk behind should handle it.

Thanks for the Welcome Evan. And thanks for all the responses/answers.
Yeah, this is just a commercial job I'm bidding on and probably won't get (maintenance at a shopping center / low bidder is not my strong point). I will stick with the more creative design build outdoor rooms, etc. But, I was just wondering if anyone was really using any growth retard's or any new magic bullets; since, this area is not really my fortay!
With all the negative economic talk I'm looking at a few more maintenance bids this year to make sure we can stay busy!

We use growth regulators mixed with herbicide in May on properties we mow with great success in reducing the amount of labor spent mowing on the property.

Anything I've seen with slopes like that.............are terribley rutted from the constant tracks of anything larger than say a 21 or 22 inch push mower.
Mulch is good........growth regulator is good.
Walkbehind could do it.......it'd be a struggle.........wouldn't use anything heavier than a 32" or 36" max.
