Anyone recently take the CORE/Cat 3A 3B tests in NJ?

I signed up for the test in two weeks for the CORE. But after reading through this book, the answers are mostly obvious.

I have some questions if anyone has taken the test in the last 2 years or so. I heard they changed it recently from openbook to closed. That is why I needed someone recent.

Is the test that hard that I have to make up flashcards or anything?

4seasons is on a distinguished road
if it's anything like Ohio's core, then its pretty easy. Mostly common sense questions. I've never heard of an open book test, that would open the field up to alot of idiots(IMO)!

The Core exams have always been closed (at least since the late 80's, it is more recent that Category exams are now closed. Once you get your license, make sure you get the needed 8 cor points & 16 per Category points in the 5 year period. We find it very easy to do in the winter. The Rutgers coop ext agency (at least in Camden County) has Master Garderner classes. Each class is from 9:00-12:00 and offers up to 6 pts per topic (core or category) for only $25/class. Its the only way to go IMHO

Good luck w/ your license

in NY, back when I took the test there were 2 parts. 1 closed book and 1 open book.

Reasoning behind the open book was to know how to find the answers..........if you think about it........that is pretty good reasoning for having open book.

Good Luck

I took the NJ one several years ago. Core was closed and all my studying meant I flew through it. 3A/B I had read through the manuals a couple of times, but had nothing memorized and it took much longer.

For the rest of you, there were several guys there retaking it for the second or third time. Apparently, open book doesn't help the morons.

Good Luck!

Just an update, took the CORE last week. It was a joke, I was done in 30 minutes. 3 choice multiple choice.

3/A/B in the next couple of weeks.

Took and passed the 3A/3B tests April 4th. Now three months later I got the card in the mail today certifying yours truly.

Good thing I wasn't in a rush or anything.

The good news is that Jap beetles have reared their ugly behinds and I can squirt em now.
