I personally use 8-10lbs per 1000ft2
so around 360-450 lbs per acre.
My mix is usually 60% bluegrass
25% per. rye
25% different fescues

I don't know what a Penn State mix is, but a mix we use often has 50% Ky BG, 25% Fescues, 25% Ryes, and we go 10-12# per 1,000 sqft. It's more than the seed company recommends, but it's what we need to get the job done.

What type of seed your using, how your applying it and time of year will determine how much seed to use.

Seed size is a big deal because ten pounds of tiny seeds is a lot more plants than ten pound of big seeds. You need to be aware of that when it comes to mixes as well. It is done by weight. Thirty percent kentucky bluegrass in one mix might make it the dominant grass in your stand if it is mixed with a bigger seed. Or, it could be only a small portion if it is mixed with tiny seeds.

Hello here is how to exactly calculate

Area x seed rate/100 x mix = kg per acre

Kentucky Blue Grass .5-.7kg per 1000m2
perennial rye grass 3.2-4.0kgs per 1000m2
creeping red fescue 1.6-2.0kg's per 1000m2

so for a 50%kb 25%pr 25%Cr it would go

1000m2 x .7/100 x .50= 3.5kg's per 1000m2

Then do the formula twice more for the other mixes and you should get your answer which would be 18.5kg per 1000m2.

If your site has irrigation then you can use the lower end. so .5 instead of .7 for kentucky blue

Any more questions or if the grass your seeding is something else let me know and i'll try to help
