Iron application for turf

Little late for this question since I will be doing this in a few hours. Has anyone ever applied iron (chelate) to turf for a fast green up? I have heard that it works great and really fast and some people do it for special events, real estate open houses, etc. but I've not done it to see how fast and/ or well it works. Trying it this afternoon on a small lawn for a wedding this weekend. Just curious if anyone has done this and how it worked for you.

Greenup you'll get, but I don't know about fast.
Out here in Utah, the soil's too alkaline. To get the iron to work, I have to add some urea plus a ton of water.
Since the genius of iron is that you get green w/out alot of growth, this kinda defeats to purpose. But it sure does green up.

yeah that is what we used. Liquid iron chelate in our tank sprayer.
It's been so wet that everything's pretty green anyway...I'm curious to see what, if anything, will happen.

Always use iron. Will not turn a sick lawn into a nice lawn -- but will turn a nic elawn into a showstopper.

Also -- Milorganite -- at about 15#/1000 will get you great greening.

Well, too late, but you should have excellent results with that much time after application. We usually figure on at least 24 hours in optimal weather before seeing any results, longer when hotter\dryer etc.

Good luck.
