sunken excavation

Two years ago I had to have my septic system replaced.Instead of going into a dry tank it was redesigned into a drain field.Well, in time the excavation has sunken from three to six inches in spots.I finally have grass growing and is looking pretty good but the low spots are bothersome with the mower and the children.Any ideas on how to fill the trenches without killing the grass or should I wait for the trench to finish settling. It was dug in March of 2005 and I had a heck of a time getting grass and not weeds to grow.Soil test was done and the yard looks pretty good except for a "F' style trench. Any ideas?

Fill the trenches with soil and reseed this fall.
Or, if you really have a good stand of grass in the trenches, dig it out, backfill & replace the grass. That seems like the long way to go about it especially since I don't know what kind of linear and square footage we're talking about.

The trench is 60' long with two trenches coming off of it which are 48' long. it is about 3' wide the whole distance. There is a nice stand of grass but I don't mind reseeding. Should I use Round up before backfilling or just smother and go?

smother and go. wheel barrow in shredded topsoil, add fertilizer to area and roll or two of straw matting pinned down.. set up sprinkler..this last part is key to getting the grass growing before the weeds.
