I am looking at a Seeda-Vator made by First Products for lawn renovations. Has anyone used one? If so, were you happy with the results?

I sold these when I worked for a turf house years ago.

I have also used them extensively on other projects. They work very well.

They fracture the soil and then drop the seed and then cover. To me fracturing the soil is much better and desirable than merely slicing in the seed. It gives the seed a much better chance to establish.

The $ 10,600 price tag is a bit steep to me, but I intend to buy one next year.

Dale, How do you feel the Seeda-Vatro will work into sports fields maintenance? Will it have a positive effect on the playing surface? One of the marketing points is softening the turf, resulting in better play and less injuries. Do you believe this to be true? By the way, I can get a demo (thats like new) for a little over $9,000.00.

I took one of these and used in on some golf course roughts that went dry during an irrigaiton shutdown. Hot as hell, in Southern Oregon.

We went over the roughs, seeded in some rye and they came back great.

As for sports fields, the machine will give us a coupel of things.

its all about soil structure here in the NW. We have heavy clay soils. We will run the top dresser over the subject area BEFORE we run the seedavator over it, dropping about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of washed sand.

We then run over it with the seedavator, opening up the profile, fracturing it, dropping the seed in it, then having the seedavator roller and brush set up close up the holes.

We could also pull some cores and do the same process.

You can slice seed all you want, but if your soil structure is bad, you still won't get a good stand.

It will help ouot the hardest field, and getting it softer is what it is about.

Snap up the demo for that price. I have turf sales persons all over the West Midwest looking for a used or demo unit for me right now.
