While I dont claim to know exactly what they were putting down, I really dont see a problem if they were doing an app of something other than a post em. Im planning to go completely liquid next year and I can see doing apps in the rain, just as granular apps are made in the rain too.

From what I was told, employees of such companies are pretty much under the gun to get 'x' amount of lawns done per day. So pretty much, the guy spraying could care less if it right or not, it is just another check mark he gets to put down on his route to complete his schedule.

From others, I've heard that by the end of the day, they use to just drive up to a house and knock on the door....if no one was there, they would just throw the flags in the yard saying it was fertilized and move on to the next one to make sure they finish their daily schedule.

Quantity, not quality rules these companies.

Had a guy work for me for about a year that worked for a 'national company'. He bought his own Lesco 3-way weed control so he didn't get call backs. This national comapny watered it down so much, the weeds wouldn't die and he'd get screwed out of his commission because of the call backs.

Course we had numerous national and local companies applying pre-emergent down this spring when there was still frost in the ground. Very, very environmentally sound. Nothing like bringing the professionalism of the industry to a higher level. Morons

Not only them.......the nation wide bagged 4 step program echos the "moron" sentimentality.

Between chemlawn, scotts and the various 4 step hype with all the advertising and applications beginning in February......all that tends to breed a misinformed public.......and so much so even that the "public" thinks us LCO's of being the misinformed and less educated.

I can uderstand that.......heck if I didn't see it for myself in a TV commercial, I would never believe anything anyone told me, regardless of education, knowledge and experience. Cause right there on the TV is the truth.

I have a friend that year after year......maybe 15 years now. When do I put down this or that? When should I do this or that? etc......

The first couple years in his house he had me doing all the apps.....beautifull.....had a kid, so they asked I stop doing the apps.....didn't take long before they had to start doing something on their own.......so....."When do I put down the preemergent?" He put it down end of February......cause step 4 and ChemLawn was already advertising via the TV. And step 1 was on sale.

His lawn become nothing more than a crabgrass patch.....time went by and they decided to hire ChemLawn......same time frame for the preemergent.......nothing but crabgrass still.......constant call backs and complaints........this went on for 4 or 5 years.

Now they are doing the 4 step again............and still "When do I put down the preemergent?"........every year tell him when I do it. And still this year. Spring 2006......step 1 was put down end of February.........When he told me he put it down already.......I asked him........Why do you ask me every year and you never listen and you still have nothing more than a crabgrass patch?

I went on further as I do most times..........Remember the first couple years, I got rid of the crabgrass? And NO weeds at all?......you do it yourself......then had ChemLawn and again doing it yourself..........you continue to have crabgrass and yet you ask me when to apply the preemergent, and you never listen to me..........His resonse was and has been most recent years......The TV adds for the 4 step program says to treat early and when we had chemlawn they did it in February.........LOL

Did you ever think that what I am telling you is right and what they tell you and do is the problem?

It's that TV mentality.......Chemlawn begins the TV adds in February here and so do the 4 step programs. People actual think that if they go buy it now and throw it down......in no time my lawn will like what's on TV........LOL In some instances they are applying right over snow in the shaded locations.
