Pesticide applicators test

I will be taking my pesticide applicators test next month, so I would like to know just how difficult this test really is. The sample questions in the manuals are all pretty easy, but is the test harder? And what form are the questions in? true /false, multiple choice, a mixture? And what about the oral part?

I realize every state is different, but I would love to hear about your experiences and what to expect.

Thanks

The test in Maryland wasn't much harder than the sample questions int the books. The test is multiple choice no oral. I was nervous but it was fairly easy.

Test here in Ontario had no oral section. It was all multiple choice as I recall. It was several years ago that I wrote it but I think it was all open-book as well. You'll do fine.

Well, I took the test(s) today, so I'll answer my own question, for posterity.

The core test: 100 questions, true/false and multiple choice. not too tough. I think I missed three ??s.

The turf and outside ornamentals test: About 50 true/false and multiple choice each. Tougher; you really need to know your pests, diseases and symptoms. About ten ??s on each of these tests (and the core) are regarding a pesticide label, which is provided.

Masters regulations test: less than 50 true/false and multiple choice. Pretty easy.

Masters oral test: Not too bad. (there was no bright light in my face or anything) A bunch of hypothetical scenarios that you basically have to spew as much info as you know about. The examiners have a bunch of points that they are looking for you to cover for each situation. They even gave hints in a few spots when my mind blanked out. This is a pass/fail test; it was hard to tell if they used a strictly numerical scoring, or if it was more subjective.

Oh, all these tests are closed book, of course.

So I hope this will help the next guy or gal looking for info. Thanks to all who responded earlier.

Closed book....?

When I took mine. I think the core was open book. I remember one part of the test was open book. LOL.

We were told open book so that our DEC knew that we knew where to look and how to look for the information we needed.
