Power Washing

Anyone offer power washing to your customers? If so, what types of jobs do they generally want?

Well John

That is easily answered in what do you think you would be doing as far as "power washing"?

It varies from entire house......to just a deck or if your lucky and an easy job......power washing concrete or other material patio, walkways and driveways.

Commercialy this can include Graffitti Removal

John:

Hook up with Terry Duran. That's about 90% of what he does, he works for numerous shopping center, mall and commerical businesses. He tells me that work is easy to train, continuous, and he is making a decent living from it. Very big thing out here on the left coast where the natives put chrome wheels on garbage trucks to haul trash in to a muddy landfill.....

GLAN, I wasn't sure what people would want out of the ordinary with power washing. I knew the standards but didn't know if there were other uses for power washing of which I wasn't aware. The entire house request would be a problem for me as I have done it at my own house and have no desire to get on ladders commercially. Do you offer this service?

Bill S., thanks for the tip. I will send Terry an e-mail to see what he says.

John

Some years ago I had invested in starting a friend in the business of power washing and window cleaning. I bought the minivan, power washer, ladders and advertising. Got to the point where I was doing the estimating and all he had to do was work and hire people as we needed.

Well......that didn't last to long.......as much as I had the work coming in.......couldn't light a fire under his ass large enough to accomodate the work load............so. With what ever money he had made and saved he bought me out of the van and equipment. Thought he would be better off on his own......LOL.

A few years later I found a need for a power washer of my own and tried to incorporate that into mutlitude of things we allready do......unfortunately there is only so much time in spring and early summer that people did not want to wait till mid summer to have decks power washed and sealed. So it realy did not fit in well with our business....that is not to say that it wasn't a totaly wasted effort......we do a couple jobs every year, were just not hyping the power washing aspect of services we provide.

I use to do a good bit of pressure washing on the side. I had a builder that I did brick and drive washing for. But it became more of a hassle than a benefit. A lot of money can be made doing however, I just didn't have enough coming in to keep one of my guys steady. I only do it if cleanup is needed after an install now.
