Mower blades

Anyone have a good (i.e. cheap) supplier for blades? I need some new ones for my WB's and riders and prices I've been quoted locally are $11-$14/blade depending on if they're for my 36" WB's or my 48" riders. Those are for OEM high-lift style blades.

I'm tired of sharpening every week, so I'm looking to get 4-6 complete sets so I'll only sharpen every 4-6 weeks during the season.

Cut'n:

If you can find one, look at some old Bridgeport milling machines at auction or Ebay.

We had one back home that we used to sharpen with and the difference in time spent and edge quality was night and day. We set the vice up at the angle we needed, clamp down the blade and in about 15 seconds all the dings were gone and we had a factory edge on. It also kept balancing times way down, because you would cut equal amounts of metal off the blade making it pretty close in weight. It also was liquid cooled so when the cut was made, the temper did not come out from grinding.

You can get those things for $150.00 and up all day long.

Back to your question, Check with Stan Stan the Mow'n Man. He has/had a site that provided parts through Stens and can hook you up for a better price I'm sure. If he is not doing it anymore, then I stand corrected.

Cutters Choice has some good pricing and you can buy over the counter at their location in London.

Thanks Bill.
www.mownman.com was created to provide after market parts strictly for green industry contractors.
I set it up cause I got tired of watching guys have sweat run down the backs all day long and then go pay 400% mark-up for a filter!!!! aaaaaarrrrrggghhhhhhh

Sten's was kind enough to allow me to be the FIRST Sten's approved dealer to market to the internet and was kind enough to allow me my choice of pricing as long as I kept it strictly to professional green industry contractors.

So I kept my prices as low as I can get them. Let me know if you find prices lower.

You can figure out what dealer cost is by simply deducting 20% off of the selling price, I tell you what your cost is, and what the MSRP is. Ain't no smoke and mirrors anywhere. Just trying to save yous a buck.

Here's the set-up simple.

Over 6000 parts from Stens. I mark up 20% from dealers cost (some stuff has over a 400% mark-up at retail level).
From that I lose 3% to the MasterCard/Visa merchant account, 7% to the webmaster. That means I make 10% for the trouble, and 10% just keeps the lights on.

Jeff, sorry to be making an advertisement out of this. Won't anymore if'n you don't like what you see. The gig is set up only for contractors with the hopes that if they can save a few bucks on overhead then maybe one night a week they can put more than hamburger on the table.

Enough said and won't bring it up again unless somebody ask... or NEVER again if Jeff asks.

PS - DON'T go be giving your local dealer a hassle on their prices now that you see what their cost is!!!! I got this thing flying under the spotlights so YOU guys save a buck and the last thing we need is to have the retail guys complaining about this back at Sten's! When I first had them agree to this they actually allowed me to send everyone DEALER catalogs showing dealer cost. Then some idiot took one of the catalogs in to his local dealer and chewed his ass for the mark-up! So... after the flack died down I no longer can send out dealer books to yous.... sigh
The world is full of idiots who just don't get it...

Thanks
