A local newspaper is featurign me in an article and I am answerign a few questions about the lawn care business.

I was looking for input from some other professioanls. I realize that a certain amount will be regional. However, there are geralities that would apply.

Latest gardening trend:

ORGANIC LANDCARE (LAWNCARE) !!!

We have done Organic lawn Care for 13 years and are now finding more acceptance - all of our customers are getting a soil test done and we are adding ammendments as required such as pH up or down, KMag is a big additive up here as is Organic Matter -
We are also pushing and getting more compliance with cutting height, mulching, frequency of mowing and watering as well as planting less Kentuckey Blue Grass ( an Asian native grass) and more Rye and Fescues N.American grass

Go to a big book store's magazine section. General gardening magazines, Better Homes and Gardens and others are what your clients read and most gardening trends start by someone reading an article on orange flowering plants, dwarf conifers or landscape lighting and next thing you know it's popular.

I've noticed myself as well as many landscapers and even homeowners leaning toward perennial planting as well as perennial beds. People don't have as much time/money to do annual planting. Many of my clients are going w/ perennials that bloom during different times of the year. Good luck w/ your article!
