Although I'm about150 miles south of Jim, I tried the spring Rye blend, RU early fall, & a fall 4 cultivar KBG slit seeding 2 years ago. It works very well. Having said that, I do have to take extra time to educate the customer about the evils of Rye.

Here are the pioctures of the test plots. 6 plots 3' x 3'

Rye Seed with Seaweed Extract
Rye Seed No Seaweed Extract
TTTF Fescue with Seaweed Extract
TTTF Fescue No Seaweed Extract
Control with Seaweed Extract
Control No seaweed extract

Signs didn't show well in pics -- will label witg computer graphics later and sue better signs next time.

I will post updates on weekely basis.

Trying the Rye method today, intending to put down a KBG/Fescue mix in August.

I hope it doesn't matter which Rye it is, perennial vs. annual; the thread doesn't say, and the only place that had rye was Walmart, go figure.

By the time I read any replies to this post, it won't matter anyway, cause the perennial rye will already be down.
