I am 100% residential.

I specialize in maintaining high quality turf for demanding cuustomers using the best materials and most contemporary methods.

I do very little mowing -- only for those clients who want a full service company(lawn, beds, shrubs, etc) and want to write one check -- a big one -- to one company.

I am also a school teacher -- so during the school year my focus is applications and turf maintenence and durign the summers I am very busy doing softscape work priamrily.

Your "thing" should be directly related to the demographic of your market area. It should also be targeted to the most profitable "thing" that you are capable of doing. Each market is different and each Business is also. If Competition goes after Commercials at a low ball price then That might be an area that you want to stay out of. I made good money doing only high end residential. However a guy in my town made a lot more doing Blow and go cutting with half the headaches. Since we don't have a lot of commercials other than condos I stayed away from them. They change board member on a regular bases and each time it is a hassle all over again. They all want something for nothing and there is always a Bean Counter on the board.

Now just like asking "How Much Should I Charge" My answer is " How much does cost to do the job, Direct and In Direct costs." Demographics play a big roll on your target market.

85% residential and 15% commerical.

The reswidential ranges from weekly accts to yearly High end accts.

The commerical is a few small buisness. I have found it better for me to work with a home owner than a borad of diectors

Maintenance is 15% of my business, and of that 75% is commercial and 25% residential. I am working at builiding more residential and a couple more commercial customers. Slowly and carefully so they are taken care of properly. My goal is to get to 20% maintenance this year.

We do design/install/maintain; 80% residential, 20% commercial. Also grow (from seed & divisions) 95% of the plant materials used on the jobs. I guarantee the plants for a year with free replacement. Very rarely does someone take me up on that offer.
