Sandy Soil Turf Grass

What turf-grasses will succeed in the sandy soils found on the shores of Lake Michigan?

Exposure is three-quarters sun; client plans to install irrigation for turf areas. Needs to be zone 5 hardy.

Thanks!!!

Bluegrass, and take lots of mulch or horsey poopoo and till it into the soil. You may find the winters to be brutal, we used to maintain several properties along Lake Shore Drive in downtown Chicago and the standard drill April 1 was to strip and remove all the dead sod, amend the soil or remove and replace it from the salt damage, then relay sod. Anything other than that, like Zoysia will take until June to turn green, and St. Augustine would not handle the severe winds off the lake.
